🗺 Map Widget

The Map Widget provides a live, interactive map of properties, projects, and job locations. It is used to visualize work geographically, explore project status, and create or edit property boundaries directly on the map.

This widget acts as the spatial hub of the system.

What Is the Map Widget?

The Map Widget allows you to:

  • View properties and projects on a map
  • See project status through map colors
  • Click features to view details
  • Search for properties or addresses
  • Draw and edit property boundaries
  • Plan routes between locations

Main Map View

The map displays:

  • Property polygons (land boundaries)
  • Property points (when no polygon exists)
  • Project status coloring
  • Optional satellite or street basemaps

The map automatically zooms and adjusts as data loads.

Understanding Colors and Status

Each property is colored based on the status of its primary project.

Typical examples:

  • 🟢 Active
  • 🟡 Proposal
  • 🔵 On Hold
  • 🟠 Completed
  • 🔴 Cancelled
  • ⚪ Unassigned (no project)

Use the Layers menu to toggle visibility by status.

Clicking a Property

Clicking a property will:

  • Open a popup with property details
  • Show linked project information
  • Allow editing or deleting (if permitted)
  • Update other widgets to match the selected project

This keeps the entire dashboard in sync.

Searching the Map

The search bar allows you to find:

  • Properties by name
  • Projects by number or name
  • Managers or project status
  • Street addresses

Search results update as you type.
Selecting a result automatically zooms the map.

Drawing New Properties

When drawing is enabled:

  1. Open the widget settings (gear icon)
  2. Enable Allow drawing & editing
  3. Use the map toolbar to draw:
    • Polygons (property boundaries)
    • Points (property locations)

After drawing:

  • A new property window opens
  • You can name and assign it to a project

Editing Property Boundaries

When editing is enabled:

  • Existing property shapes become editable
  • Drag points to adjust boundaries
  • Changes are saved automatically when confirmed

This is useful for correcting boundaries or refining site limits.

Creating or Editing Properties

From the map you can:

  • Create new properties by drawing
  • Edit property names and assignments
  • Delete properties (with confirmation)

⚠️ Deleting a property permanently removes it and cannot be undone.

Switching Basemaps

You can switch between:

  • Street Map
  • Satellite Imagery

Use satellite view for site context and aerial review.

Route Planning

The Map Widget includes a Route Planner.

Starting the Route Planner

  • Click Plan Route in the bottom corner

Adding Stops

  • Click anywhere on the map to add stops
  • Drag stop markers to adjust locations
  • Remove stops individually

Route Options

  • Driving mode
  • Optional stop optimization (fastest order)

Route Summary

The route panel shows:

  • Total travel time
  • Total distance
  • Visual route on the map

Using the Map with Other Widgets

The Map Widget works together with:

  • Dispatch (shows job locations)
  • Calendar (visual context for scheduled work)
  • Deliverables (property-linked tasks)

Selecting a property updates other widgets automatically.

Tips for Best Use

  • Use layers to reduce visual clutter
  • Enable drawing only when needed
  • Use satellite view for site review
  • Search instead of zooming manually
  • Use the route planner for daily dispatch planning

Good to Know

  • Map updates automatically as data changes
  • Drawing tools only appear when enabled
  • All changes require confirmation
  • Mobile and desktop layouts are supported

Summary

The Map Widget turns project data into a spatial experience. It helps you understand where work is happening, manage property boundaries, and plan routes — all from a single, interactive map.

It is most powerful when used alongside scheduling, dispatch, and deliverables tools.
