📝 Activity Log

The Activity Log provides a clear, chronological history of what’s happening across your projects, proposals, invoices, and other records. It helps you quickly understand what changed, when it changed, and where it happened — all in one place.

What Is the Activity Log?

The Activity Log is an automatically generated timeline of actions taken in the system. It records important events such as:

  • Status changes
  • Record updates
  • New items being created
  • Pricing or quantity changes
  • Key workflow actions

Each entry is time-stamped and grouped by day, making it easy to follow activity over time.

Where You’ll See It

The Activity Log typically appears as a widget on dashboards or record detail pages.

It automatically scopes itself based on what you’re viewing. For example:

  • On a project page, you’ll see activity related to that project
  • On a proposal page, you’ll see proposal and line-item activity
  • On a dashboard, it may show recent activity across multiple records

No setup is required — it adjusts automatically.

Reading the Activity Timeline

Each activity entry includes:

  • Time – When the action occurred
  • Title – A short description of what happened
  • Details – Additional context such as fields changed, totals, or values updated
  • Category Tag – A small label indicating the type of record involved (proposal, invoice, service, etc.)

Entries are displayed with the most recent activity at the top.

Grouped by Day

Activity entries are grouped by date to make scanning easier.

As you scroll:

  • Newer activity appears first
  • Older activity appears further down
  • Date headers remain visible to help maintain context

Filtering by Month

You can filter the Activity Log by month using the dropdown at the top of the widget.

To filter activity:

  1. Open the month selector
  2. Choose a specific month or select All
  3. The activity list updates instantly

This is useful for reviewing historical changes, monthly activity, or billing-related updates.

Context Awareness

The Activity Log only shows relevant information:

  • If no record is selected, it will prompt you to select one
  • If no activity exists for the selected period, it will clearly say so
  • Related activity (such as a proposal and its services) is combined into a single timeline when applicable

Real-Time Updates

The Activity Log updates automatically as changes are made elsewhere in the application. There is no need to refresh the page.

This makes it useful for:

  • Tracking recent changes
  • Reviewing collaboration activity
  • Verifying updates before sending items to clients

Removing the Activity Log Widget

If the Activity Log is displayed as a widget and you no longer want it on your dashboard:

  1. Open the widget menu (gear icon)
  2. Select Remove Widget

This only removes the widget from your view. No data is deleted.

Tips for Best Use

  • Review the Activity Log before sending proposals or invoices
  • Use month filtering to audit historical changes
  • Scan the timeline to understand changes without opening each record
  • Keep it visible on dashboards for situational awareness

Things to Know

  • The Activity Log is read-only
  • Entries are generated automatically by the system
  • Visibility depends on your access permissions
  • Activity is ordered by when it occurred, not when it was viewed

Summary

The Activity Log acts as the system’s memory. It quietly tracks important actions and presents them in a clean, readable timeline so you always know what happened, when it happened, and why it matters.
