πŸ’¬ Commenting Widget

The Commenting Widget is where conversations live. It lets you leave notes, ask questions, tag teammates, and keep a running history of communication tied directly to a project, task, or record.

Think of it as a shared conversation timeline for your work.

What Is the Commenting Widget?

The Commenting Widget allows you to:

  • Write comments linked to the current page or item
  • See conversations in time order
  • Mention other users
  • Edit or delete your own comments
  • Search past comments
  • Log meetings and phone calls alongside comments

Everything stays connected to the item you’re viewing, so context is never lost.

Reading the Conversation

Comments appear in a scrolling timeline, ordered from oldest to newest.

Each entry shows:

  • Who wrote it
  • When it was written
  • The comment content
  • Any tagged user (if applicable)

Your own comments appear visually distinct so they’re easy to spot.

Writing a Comment

To add a new comment:

  1. Type your message into the text box at the bottom
  2. Click Post or press Enter

Your comment will appear immediately in the timeline.

New Lines

  • Press Ctrl + Enter to add a new line without posting
  • Press Enter to post the comment

Tagging Someone (@ Mentions)

You can tag another user by typing @Name in your comment.

When you tag someone:

  • Their name is highlighted
  • The comment is clearly directed to them
  • It helps draw attention to important messages

Example: @John Smith Can you review this before submittal?

Editing or Deleting Comments

You can only edit or delete your own comments.

To edit or delete:

  1. Hover over your comment
  2. Use the Edit (✎) or Delete (X) buttons
  3. Confirm your changes

Edits save immediately.

Searching Comments

At the top of the widget is a search bar.

You can search by:

  • Comment text
  • Author name
  • Tagged user
  • Meeting titles
  • Phone call subjects

Search results update instantly as you type.

Loading Older Comments

The widget automatically loads recent comments first.

To see older comments:

  • Scroll upward
  • Older entries load automatically as you reach the top

No buttons required.

Logging Meetings and Phone Calls

The Commenting Widget also supports logged activity, not just text.

Using the βž• Add button, you can:

  • Log a new meeting
  • Log a phone call

These appear in the timeline alongside comments, clearly labeled with icons:

  • πŸ“… Meetings
  • πŸ“ž Phone Calls

Clicking them opens their details.

Editing Meetings or Calls

If a meeting or phone call needs updating:

  • Click its title in the timeline
  • Make changes
  • Save

The timeline updates automatically.

Tips for Best Use

  • Keep comments short and clear
  • Use @mentions when action is needed
  • Log meetings instead of summarizing them in comments
  • Use search to quickly find past decisions
  • Treat the comment timeline as the project’s communication record

Good to Know

  • Comments save automatically
  • Changes appear instantly for other users
  • Only your own comments can be edited or deleted
  • The widget always stays tied to the current page or item

Summary

The Commenting Widget keeps communication organized, searchable, and tied to real work. Whether you’re leaving quick notes, coordinating with teammates, or logging important conversations, it provides a clear record everyone can rely on.
