Project
Projects are the central hub for work in the system.
They organize clients, properties, jobs, proposals, deliverables, and billing into a single, cohesive unit.
Almost all work in the application ultimately ties back to a project.
What a Project Represents
A project represents a real-world engagement or scope of work.
Projects are used to:
- Group related work and data
- Track progress and status
- Associate properties and locations
- Link proposals, jobs, and deliverables
- Provide context for reporting and billing
Projects are created once and referenced throughout their lifecycle.
Where Projects Are Used
Projects appear across the system, including:
- Dashboards and project lists
- Proposals and estimates
- Jobs and scheduling
- Properties and GIS data
- Deliverables and reports
- Billing and payments
Because of this, projects act as the primary organizational unit.
Creating a Project
Projects can be created from multiple workflows, such as:
- Creating a proposal
- Creating a job
- Managing projects directly
In some workflows, the project form appears in a popup or inline editor.
Regardless of where it appears, the project fields and behavior are consistent.
Project Fields
Project Name (required)
The primary name of the project.
- Must be unique within your organization
- Used throughout the system for identification
- Required to create a project
Choose a name that clearly represents the scope or location of the work.
Client (required)
Links the project to a client record.
- Determines who the work is for
- Used for billing and reporting
- Required for most workflows
If the client does not exist yet, a new client can be created during project setup.

Project Status
Indicates the current stage of the project.
Status affects:
- Where the project appears in lists and dashboards
- Which actions are available
- Reporting and filtering
Common examples include planning, active, on hold, or completed.
(Exact status options may vary by configuration.)
Description / Notes
Optional internal notes about the project.
- Not shown to clients unless explicitly included
- Useful for internal context or special instructions
Linking Properties
Projects can be associated with one or more properties.
Properties provide:
- Geographic context
- Boundaries for GIS outputs
- Spatial reference for jobs and deliverables
Properties are often created or selected during project setup.

Editing Projects
Project details can be edited after creation.
Edits:
- Apply immediately
- Affect all workflows that reference the project
- Do not break existing associations (jobs, proposals, properties)
Some fields may be locked or restricted based on permissions or project state.
Permissions & Visibility
Access to projects is controlled by your company’s permission model.
Depending on your role, you may be able to:
- Create new projects
- Edit project details
- View associated data
- Manage related workflows
