Job

A Job represents a specific unit of work that can be scheduled, assigned, and tracked.

Jobs are typically tied to a project and may include location data, scheduling windows, and notes for execution.

Creating or Editing a Job

Jobs are created and edited using the New Job popup.

The same form is used for:

  • Creating a new job
  • Editing an existing job

Job Fields

Job Title (required)

A short, descriptive name for the job.

Examples:

  • Topographic Survey – Phase 1
  • Utility Locate
  • Construction Staking – Lots 12–18

Target Type

Defines what this job is associated with.

Commonly:

  • Project (most jobs)

This determines which targets appear in the next field.

Target

Selects the specific project (or other target) the job belongs to.

When a project is selected:

  • The job can inherit project geometry
  • The job appears under that project in schedules and maps

Desired Start / End (optional)

A preferred scheduling window.

These values:

  • Do not automatically schedule the job
  • Help with planning and dispatch
  • Must be valid (end after start)

Description / Notes

Optional internal notes for the job.

Use this for:

  • Scope clarification
  • Site access instructions
  • Crew notes

Job Location

Jobs can have spatial data in two ways.

Use Project Geometry

When enabled:

  • The job inherits the project’s property geometry
  • Manual drawing is disabled
  • Keeps job and project locations aligned

Manual Job Geometry

If not using project geometry:

  • Draw a point, polygon, or both
  • Geometry appears on maps and dispatch views
  • Can be cleared or redrawn at any time

Status

Jobs support multiple statuses, such as:

  • Planned
  • Scheduled
  • In Progress
  • Done
  • Canceled

Status affects:

  • Visibility in lists
  • Scheduling behavior
  • Reporting

Save, Update, and Delete

  • Create Job saves a new job
  • Save Job updates an existing job
  • Delete Job permanently removes the job (cannot be undone)

Summary

The Job form defines what work is being done, where it happens, and how it fits into scheduling.

How and when jobs are created is covered in the Job Workflow documentation.
