πŸ’³ Stripe Payments Integration

The Stripe integration connects your company to Stripe for accepting online payments. It enables secure credit card and ACH payments, automated status tracking, and a clean payment experience for your clients.

Once connected, Stripe handles payment processing while the application tracks payment status and links payments to your records.

What the Stripe Integration Does

Connecting Stripe allows you to:

  • Accept credit card and ACH payments
  • Send payment links to clients
  • Track payment status automatically
  • Support client portal payments
  • Route payments directly to your Stripe account

This integration is required if you plan to accept online payments.

Where to Manage the Connection

Stripe is managed from:

Company Settings β†’ Integrations β†’ Stripe

From this section, you can:

  • Connect or disconnect Stripe
  • View account and payout status
  • Test payment readiness
  • Manage ACH and fee settings
  • Open Stripe’s dashboard for advanced configuration

Connecting to Stripe

To connect your company to Stripe:

  1. Open Company Settings
  2. Scroll to the Integrations section
  3. Locate Stripe
  4. Click Connect
  5. Sign in to Stripe and authorize access

After authorization, you’ll be returned to the application and the connection status will update automatically.

Connection Status & Readiness

Once connected, Stripe shows several status indicators to help you confirm readiness:

  • Connected – Stripe is linked to your company
  • Charges Enabled – Card payments can be accepted
  • Payouts Enabled – Funds can be deposited to your bank
  • Account Status – Indicates whether additional setup is required

If Stripe reports an issue, you’ll see a warning and instructions on how to resolve it.

Testing the Connection

Use the Test button to verify Stripe is ready to accept payments.

Testing checks:

  • Account authorization
  • Payment capability status
  • General Stripe health

If Stripe is not fully enabled, the test will indicate what needs attention.

Payment Methods

Credit & Debit Cards

Card payments are enabled automatically once Stripe is connected and verified.

Supported features include:

  • Secure card entry
  • Automatic payment confirmation
  • Status updates in the application

ACH Payments

ACH payments may require additional verification in Stripe.

When enabled:

  • Clients can pay directly from their bank accounts
  • Processing times may be longer than cards
  • Fees are typically lower

ACH availability depends on Stripe account status.

Fee Handling

Stripe fees are processed by Stripe directly.

Depending on your configuration, the application may support:

  • Passing processing fees to clients
  • Absorbing fees internally

Fee behavior is controlled through your Stripe settings and company preferences.

Managing Your Stripe Account

Click Manage in Stripe to open your Stripe dashboard.

From there, you can:

  • Update bank account details
  • Review payouts and transfers
  • Configure payment methods
  • Complete verification steps
  • Access Stripe reports

Changes made in Stripe may affect payment availability in the application.

Disconnecting Stripe

To disconnect Stripe:

  1. Open Company Settings
  2. Go to Integrations β†’ Stripe
  3. Click Disconnect
  4. Confirm the action

Disconnecting:

  • Disables online payments
  • Does not delete existing payment records
  • Does not affect your Stripe account

You can reconnect at any time.

Common Issues & Notes

  • Payments cannot be accepted unless charges are enabled
  • Payouts require a verified bank account
  • Stripe may request additional business information
  • If payments are failing, check Stripe account alerts first

Most issues can be resolved directly from the Stripe dashboard.

Best Practices

  • Connect Stripe early during company setup
  • Complete all Stripe verification steps promptly
  • Test payments before sending links to clients
  • Monitor account status periodically
  • Keep Stripe as the system of record for payment processing

Summary

The Stripe integration provides a secure, reliable way to accept online payments while keeping payment processing separate from project and operational workflows.

Think of it as simple payments, clear status, and fewer follow-ups with clients.
